The Move Continues 
New Departments Relocate to Mustang Business Park
More than 150 staff members are moving to the new Mustang Business Park off-campus facility, helping to open 50,000 square feet of student-serving space in the campus core. Teams that have so far moved into the new space include the Department of Emergency Management; Budget and Fiscal Planning; University Accounting and Financial Reporting; Office of the Registrar; University Development and Alumni Engagement; University Personnel; Strategic Business Services; Operational Business Support; Audit and Consulting Services; and Extended Professional and Continuing Education. Industry and Media Award 
Counseling and Psychological Services Honored
Andrea Lawson, licensed clinical social worker and Campus Health and Wellbeing’s  director of , and licensed psychologist Dr. Sarah Colwell have been awarded the ’ Media Award. Lawson and Colwell are being recognized for the development of CAPS’ Mental Health Fridays Webinar Series, which covers topics like intuitive eating, body image and mourning loss, among others. The webinars are offered live throughout the month of October via  and are accessible year-round via the .
Tournament of Roses Parade 
Cal Poly Half of Rose Float Trucked to Pomona
Cal Poly Rose Float students packed up their half of the 2025 Tournament of Roses entry Thursday at the campus Rose Float Lab for transport to Cal Poly Pomona, where the sections will be combined and the float will take shape over the next 12 weeks. The float, “Nessie’s Lakeside Laughs,†will depict an animated lakeside party featuring puffins sliding down Nessie’s fin, beavers crafting with found driftwood, a Scottish terrier riding a paddleboat on the loch (lake or sea inlet in Scottish and Irish Gaelic), and a smiling Highland cow spinning in an innertube.

Cal Poly Partners Board meeting will be held on October 25, at 8:30 am at Tech Park, Mount Bishop Rd. It is open to the public. Dean Candidate Campus Visits 
The university will soon host up to four finalists for the Dean of CAFES and the Dean of CAED. Campus visits are scheduled for CAFES candidates on Nov. 7-8, with more dates to be confirmed, and for CAED candidates on Nov. 14-15, Nov. 21-22, Dec. 2-3, and Dec. 5-6. Open forums will take place with each candidate and are open to the campus community to attend in person or via Zoom. Finalist information and additional details will be shared in advance.
Baker/Koob Endowments 
Application Window Is Now Open 
The application window for the 2024-25 Baker and Koob Endowments is now open. These grants support hands-on, project-based learning for Cal Poly students, funding travel, research, competitions, and more. Open to all majors, the endowments encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration. Eligible undergraduate and graduate students must apply by Thursday, Nov. 14. Applications require a faculty advisor and a letter of support. Encourage your students to visit the link below for details on how to apply.

Something’s cooking at 1901 Marketplace! Campus Dining is introducing Cal Poly’s newest dining option, 1901 Kitchen. This buffet-style platform is located behind Poly Deli and features hot and cold bars, a rotating menu of à la carte items and other delicious favorites. Faculty and staff can easily build a meal to enjoy in the Cal Poly Partners Pavilion next door. Visitors can choose between one or two trips through the venue. 1901 Kitchen will serve lunch Monday-Friday and dinner Monday-Thursday. Order ahead of time on the Grubhub app, or in-person.

University Development and Alumni Engagement 
Gift Lockbox Relocation Update 
With the transition of a portion of University Development and Alumni Engagement’s staff to Mustang Business Park, including Development Support Services, the lockboxes for physical drop-off of gifts from college/unit partners has changed. All should now to be directed to the lockbox in Building 1 at the State Cashiers Office and placed in an envelope clearly marked UDAE - Development Support Services. From there, UDAE’s mail is sorted and delivered to MBP via Distribution Services. As of Sept. 20, 2024, the lockboxes in Heron Hall Room 106 and on the external door of the building have been decommissioned.

How to Protect Yourself from Scams
Week 3 of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month focuses on recognizing and reporting phishing scams. Phishers often pose as trusted sources, like companies, professors, or friends, to steal personal information. Watch for these signs: offers too good to be true, poor grammar, requests for personal details, and mismatched email addresses. If you suspect phishing, forward the email to abuse@calpoly.edu or use the . Stay vigilant to protect yourself and Cal Poly from cyber threats.

Steven Franco-Santiago to Discuss Music Therapy on Oct. 17
The Music Department will host  for a  at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in Room 218 of the . Franco-Santiago will share his experience pursuing music therapy as a career path. He is a music therapist and guitarist based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he works for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System and as an adjunct professor at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. Previously, Campoverdi served in the Obama White House as the first deputy director of Hispanic media. She currently sits on the boards of the 51ÊÓÆµ Community Foundation and Harvard's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy.

Cal Poly Report (CPR) is Cal Poly's official employee newsletter, designed to communicate information about officially sanctioned university news or events to faculty, staff and administrators.
All announcements, events and other listings and information must be faculty- and/or staff-focused. Submissions may run only one time — with the exception of Catastrophic Leave announcements and Employment Opportunities, which can run up to two consecutive weeks. Items are strictly limited to 100 words and should, whenever possible, provide a link to additional information online.
To help ensure CPR continues to contain only relevant and approved information, submissions are required to come from or be approved by in the respective colleges, units and work areas. Entries submitted by those other than the designated approver must be accompanied by an approval form signed by the unit's approver. CPR is published on Wednesdays weekly during the school year, except during academic breaks, and monthly in the summer. The deadline for each issue is 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to publication.
